  • University of Gothenburg - Sustainability ranking and new publications

    Nearly 800 universities in 85 countries participated in the 2020 version of the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings and the University of Gothenburg ended up in place 45. Read more.

They offer 10 programmes and around 100 courses with different angles of sustainable development.   • University of Bergen and University of the South Pacific - New Ocean and Climate PhD programme launched

    The University of Bergen (UiB) in Norway, and the regional University of the South Pacific (USP) (both IAU members) have intensified their long-term collaboration by launching on 28 April 2020, the Norway-Pacific Ocean-Climate Scholarship Programme (N-POC), an ambitious and interdisciplinary partnership in research and PhD training. UiB’s Rector Dag Rune Olsen mentioned that “the two universities share the conviction that the ocean is central to understanding the urgent challenges posed by climate change”. USP’s Vice-Rector and President Pal Ahluwalia, expressed thanks to the Norwegian Government, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Norwegian people for funding this science initiative on the ocean-climate nexus.   • COVID-19 - Interview with Marc de Perrot, Secretary General of the University of Lausanne

    The University of Lausanne (UNIL), has shown a great capacity to adapt since 13 March, according to Marc de Perrot, Secretary General of the university, in an interview published on the university’s website on 22 April 2020. Initiatives and measures have been taken in response to COVID-19, such as the launch of "Coronacell" one among the project created by the Rectorate to coordinate the management of the epidemic and anticipate a September academic re-start.   • Bournemouth University - Survey on Work-Life Balance post Covid-19

    Since the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic, Bournemouth University (BU) provided concrete support to help local communities and healthcare establishments battle the disease. Their latest initiatives is the launch of a survey on "Work-Life Balance post Covid-19". BU invites academics, at all career stages and from any subject area, to contribute voluntarily to this research that aims to assess the impacts of the Covid-19 outbreak on all academics work/life balance. By understanding the impacts, concerns and coping mechanisms, BU hopes to identify lessons learned to inform what universities and individuals can do to nurture good work/life balance of all academics.

    Daffodil International University (DIU), Bangladesh is organizing the CoronaThon-19:A Hackathon for Combating COVID-19 all over the world during 28-30 April, 2020. Under this competition, students from Grade 10 to Post Graduation level will be eligible to compete online & solve the challenges brought on by the current pandemic. This initiative mainly aims to develop the best possible solutions to fight against the Corona pandemic and also engage the students in productive work during this lockdown period.
