President of Federal University of Minas Gerais since 2018, Sandra Almeida is a Brazilian literary studies professor. Her research primarily focuses on contemporary literature, feminist literary criticism, gender studies, post-colonial literature, cultural translation, and diaspora and space in contemporary literature. She was UFMG Vice-President from 2014 to 2018, and Dean for International Affairs from 2002 to 2006. She is a Professor of English and Comparative Literatures at UFMG and holds a Master’s and a PhD Degree from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and post-doctorate in Comparative Literature from Columbia University. Currently, Sandra is a CNPq research productivity fellow (1C) and was a Minas Gerais Researcher Program fellow at FAPEMIG from 2007 to 2017. She coordinates the Commission for International Relations from ANDIFES (The Brazilian Association of Federal University Presidents) and is currently the Chair of the WUN Partnership Board.
