Responsible Futures International Grant Opportunity |
Responsible Futures International Grant Opportunity
Beginning with the 2025-26 cohort, the IAU offers one grant to cover the participation of one IAU Member HEI for the Responsible Futures International programme. With the IAU RFI Grant, we hope to increase access and diversity of participating institutions working towards the development of a truly global programme. The grant will cover the participation fee for the full programme, including ad hoc support; the institution will cover the travel and subsistence costs if opting for an audit in person.

About the programme
Responsible Futures is a whole-institution approach to embed holistic sustainability in student learning at higher education institutions. It is a supported change programme and accreditation mark, with over 10 years of experience, delivered in partnership with students. Responsible Futures puts sustainability at the heart of education.
Students Organising for Sustainability (SOS) and the International Association of Universities (IAU) partnered in 2023 to launch an international pilot of this long-running Responsible Futures programme. Together, pilot institutions and their students have worked to integrate sustainability into strategies and policies, to embed sustainability across a broad range of disciplines, and to center local/regional perspectives on sustainability. The seven pilot institutions co-created the programme, including the development of an international framework. The institutions are working with the framework and support cohort sessions towards student-led audits to determine Responsible Futures accreditation.
We invite you to read more in the pilot report.
If interested, please submit the application form here by 30 June 2025.
The selected institution will be contacted by 31 July, and programme participation begins in September (online meetings).
