Time and Timing in Doctoral Education
Time plays an important role in doctoral education in a variety of dimensions. The average length of a doctorate, time to degree, duration of funding, part-time doctorates and timelines are all structuring elements of doctoral education. Time management is considered a key skill for doctoral candidates and those responsible for doctoral schools and programmes need to deal with time as a limited resource to respond to a multiplicity of demands. These and many other issues relating to time and the timing of doctoral education will be at the heart of this flagship meeting of the EUA Council for Doctoral Education.
