  • University of Bergen - Bergen Summer Research School (BSRS) for PhD students

    Registration is still open for the annual Bergen Summer Research School (BSRS) for PhD students that will take place 7-17 June 2022 as a fully digital event and free of charge for all participants.
    The BSRS 2022 - Understanding and addressing inequality: Sustainability, social justice and hope – consists of six parallel courses covering topics from climate change, governance, economic experiments, higher education, the arts, food security, gender, and the environmental crisis. In addition, there will be special interdisciplinary sessions on systems thinking and creative interdisciplinary problem-solving. Participation is credited 4 or 10 ECTS.

  • UNESCO UNITWIN Network on ESD and Social Transformation (UNiESD&ST)

    UNESCO announces a new global UNITWIN cooperation programme Education for Sustainable Development and Social Change called UNiESD&ST.
    The cooperation programme aims to strengthen teachers at all levels as key actors in promoting sustainable development and peace through education. UNESCO Chairs from Leuphana University Lüneburg (Germany), Heidelberg University of Education (Germany), the University of Crete (Greece), the Earth Charter Center (Costa Rica), York University (Canada) and the Chair of Global Change and Social Learning at Rhodes University (South Africa) as well as other partners from 30 countries are involved. This global partnership will also bring knowledge and experience to contextualize the role of ESD in various regions. Leuphana University Lüneburg will coordinate the project. The partners involved in this network are also part of the IAU HESD Cluster on SDG 4: Quality Education, lead by York University.
    The UNITWIN Network was officially launched at the 5th UNESCO Forum on Transformative Education for Sustainable Development & Global Citizenship on 1 December 2021.

  • ZJU’s First International Competition on Modern Bamboo Structure Building Design - Registration is now open

    In line with the Joint Statement launched on the Global University Presidents’ Forum on Sustainable Development last March, Zhejiang University will host the First International Competition on Modern Bamboo Structure Building Design. This competition provides a platform for students to present their low-carbon design solutions for a real mountain village in China. Registration is open to both undergraduates and postgraduates across all majors. The deadline for registration is January 15, 2022, China Time.

  • Association of African Universities - Guidebook to a Successful Implementation of Digital Education

    The Association of African Universities as the Regional Facilitation Unit for the project, presents the useful "Guidebook to a Successful Implementation of Digital Education”.
    The Guidebook explains e-learning succinctly and effectively and aims to guide higher education institutions’ decision-makers through the major change processes that a digital education implementation represents.
    This Guidebook was developed under The Africa Higher Education Centres of Excellence (ACE Impact) Project, a World Bank Initiative in collaboration with the Governments of the 11 participating African countries.

  • Makerere University to Commemorate 100 Years

    Makerere University hosted a stakeholders mobilisation event in commemoration of 100 years (1922-2022) of its existence, on Thursday, 25th November 2021. The event featured a Round-table Discussion of the [email protected] Celebrations under the Theme: "Leveraging 100 Years of Excellence in Building a Transformed Society". First established as a technical school in 1922 with only 14 students, Makerere University has grown over the years to become one of the leading universities in Africa. This was the first of the many events and activities that the university has lined up in commemoration of the centennial milestone.   • Birzeit University - UNESCO-Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable Development

    Birzeit University’s Media Development Center (MDC) has been awarded the UNESCO-Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable Development for their project, “Media and Information Literacy for Sustainable Communities,”. MDC’s project was chosen, along with two other initiatives from Ghana and Peru, from a group of 113 nominations by institutions and governments in 54 countries.
