The European Commission has chosen to fund the university alliance CIVICA, founded by two IAU members the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration (Romania) and Central European University (Hungary) and five other universities: Bocconi University (Italy), the European University Institute (European Intergovernmental Organization), the Hertie School of Governance (Germany), Sciences Po (France, lead institution for the project) and the Stockholm School of Economics (Sweden). CIVICA will also be joined by the London School of Economics and Political Science (United Kingdom) as an Associated partner. Selected by the European Commission as one of the pilot European Universities, the application of CIVICA received 92/100 points.
As announced on June 26 by the Commission a total of 54 applications were received, of which 17 have been selected and awarded funding.
