The Central European University (CEU) announced on 25 October that incoming students will study at a new campus in Vienna beginning in the academic year 2019-20. The CEU Trustees authorized the move as of December 1, 2018 given that the Hungarian government has refused to sign an agreement allowing CEU to operate in Hungary. The signing of the agreement has been required by the Hungarian government itself as a condition for CEU to be able to continue operating in Hungary. The Hungarian government has negotiated an agreement with the State of New York to this effect, but now refuses to sign it, thus forcing CEU out of Hungary. See more information here.
IAU stands in support of its long-standing Member, CEU, in this difficult transition and trusts that it will continue to offer its students excellent learning and research opportunities.
