Canada
  Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) – Member (Organisation)
AUCC released online the third volume of its report “Trends in higher education - Volume 3: Finance”, which examines the structure and sources of university funding in Canada, draws a comparison with U.S., U.K. and Australia, and questions evolution perspectives. Main outcomes reveal a drop in the overall revenues in favour of teaching and research per student at Canadian universities since the 1980s and a stagnation since 2000.

  Academic Cooperation Association (ACA) – Member (Organisation)
ACA released the publication “Beyond 2010. Priorities and challenges for higher education in the next decade”, a collection of articles based on presentations and papers prepared for the ACA Conference in Tallinn in June 2008 dealing with student mobility, alternative delivery of international education, funding of higher education, and the impact of labour market changes on higher education.

The Head Office of the Lund University Libraries launched a call for membership applications to its Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) in order to help maintain this service. DOAJ lists over 3600 full texts, quality controlled, open access journals from over 2000 publishers in 91 different countries, and aims to cover all scientific subjects and all languages.

The ESADE Foundation and Comillas have signed a collaboration agreement to teach the new Programme for Leadership Development (PLD). Last March 2009, a delegation led by Prof. Per Warfvinge, Vice-Dean for International Relations, Faculty of Engineering from Lund University, paid a visit to ZJU and was warmly welcomed by Prof. Wang Li, Deputy Director of International Relations Office of ZJU. The two parties had an in-depth discussion on educational collaboration between the two universities from 2009 to 2012 and reached an agreement.

  Twenty US universities and 20 institutions in 15 African countries have won Africa-US Higher Education Initiative Planning Grants of US$50,000 each for capacity-building partnerships. There were nearly 300 applications for the grants that pair US and African higher education institutions and are supported by USAID and the US-based Higher Education for Development. 4 out of those 20 institutions from African countries are IAU members: Kigali Institute of Science &Technology, Rwanda; University of Malawi; Makerere University, Uganda; Université Gaston-Berger, Senegal.
