Institute of International Education (IIE) – New Publication

IIE has released the report Classifying Higher Education in the Middle East and North Africa. It comprises data and findings from 300 higher education institutions from the MENA region. The pilot study aiming at developing a system for classifying HEIs was initiated in 2009 by the IIE with support from the Carnegie Corporation of New York and in partnership with the Lebanese Association of Education Studies (LAES). The report is available for purchase as a PDF file.
European Centre for Strategic Management of Universities (ESMU) - Executive Programme for Senior University Leaders

CEU and ESMU announce a new executive programme for senior university leaders from Central and Eastern European countries. It aims to provide a place for interactive peer learning and exchange on matters relevant for leaders of higher education institutions and an opportunity to meet higher education experts from the European Commission and other European organizations focusing on higher education management and policy.

The joint international doctoral degree in "Law, Science and Technology" covers three different research fields: bioethics and biolaw; ICT law, and legal informatics.
The doctorate has 5 full partners, and 10 associate partners within higher education institutions, and 6 industrial partners. It is an interdisciplinary integrated doctorate designed to address new challenges in legal, socio-ethical and technical domains arising from the information society and newly emerging technologies.

IIE announced the launch of a new IIE Emergency Student Fund on 2 November 2011 at the 3rd World Innovation Summit for Education in Doha, Qatar. The purpose of the Fund is to provide emergency grants to post-secondary students matriculated at accredited educational institutions outside their home countries whose sources of support have been impacted by natural disaster or crisis.
