Special celebratory initiatives

13th IAU General Conference marked 60 years of IAU.

Particular emphasis was placed on IAU Member involvement in the life and history of the Association.

A series of special initiatives were developed to celebrate this memorable event:

an International Music CD was created and given out to all Conference participants
a book entitled: “Work with Universities: The 1948 Utrecht Conference and the Birth of the IAU” was also launched and handed out to all
also a photo of the Conference participants, featuring the number 60, was also take from the top of the Dom church in Utrecht, just after the Open Ceremony.

Another initiative, the photo competition and exhibition on the theme of the conference, had to be cancelled due to the low number of answers received.
Yet, we would like to thank the Hong Kong Baptist University, China – Hong Kong; the University of Patras, Greece; the Salahaddin University, Iraq; the Mykolas Romeris University, Lithuania; the Vilnius University, Lithuania; the An-Najah National University, Palestine; the University of the East, Philippines; The College of The Bahamas, The Bahamas; the Open University, United Kingdom for their participation and we are glad to share their photos with you.
